Job Description

This position is located in Oklahoma and involves working with the state's largest agency to ensure the safety and well-being of children and families.

As a Child Welfare Specialist, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of Oklahomans by providing services to families and children in need.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for social work and a commitment to creating pathways to hope for all individuals.

Extensive training will be provided to new employees, including the Child Welfare Core Academy Training Program.

This program will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide treatment and preventive services, visit children in placement, and conduct assessments of children and families.

You will also be responsible for referring families and children to services in the community, participating in investigations of abuse and neglect, and preparing case reports and other documentation.

Travel is extensive, and you must possess a valid driver's license and maintain required car insurance.

State vehicles will be available for use to carry out the duties of the position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate allegations of child abuse or neglect
  • Protect the safety of children and provide services to help families with any barriers that can result in the safety of their children to be at risk
  • Preserve and strengthen protective capacities of the parents to keep the child in their own home
  • Provide placements for children that meet their medical, educational, and physical needs
  • Return children to their own homes as soon as their needs can be met in the home of their parent(s)

Requirements:

  • Completion of 90 hours from an accredited college or university
  • 3 years of experience related to child welfare work
  • A combination of education and experience

Salary:

  • Level I: $37,280.75 + Full State Employee Benefits
  • Level II: $40,077.79 + Full State Employee Benefits
  • Level III: $43,968.62 + Full State Employee Benefits

  • On-call positions receive an additional bonus ranging from $100 to $150 every two weeks
