Job Title: Executive Director

Location: Salt Lake City, UT USA

The International Rescue Committee is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead our Salt Lake City office. As the face of the IRC at the local level, you will be responsible for setting the vision, articulating the mission, and overseeing program development and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Management and Leadership: Establish and articulate vision and strategy for the IRC local offices. Engage actively with local leaders and communities to advance IRC's mission and work locally as a thought and operational leader.
  • Strategic Planning: Lead annual strategic planning process that exhibits your own strategic vision for the office and incorporates the input and programmatic vision of IRC staff.
  • Staff Management: Build and maintain unity among the staff. Maintain an open-door policy and practice to ensure ongoing, consistent two-way communications.
  • Operations: Ensure timely and consistent communication with HQ on operational issues, policies, and reporting.
  • Human Resources: Ensure systems are in place for recruitment, hiring, orientation, performance, management, terminations, layoffs, leaves, etc.
  • Advocacy and Outreach: Lead local advocacy efforts and support national advocacy efforts.
  • External Representation and Fund Diversification: Proactively provide senior leadership and representation of the organization to local and national community, partner, and media audiences.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree required, advanced degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible work experience with social services or humanitarian assistance programs.
  • Demonstrated staff management, program development, monitoring, evaluation, and advocacy experience.
  • Authentic leadership: demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC's core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality.
  • Successful and significant fundraising and grant writing experience.
  • Financial management experience, including effective management of budgets.
  • Proven people management skills: demonstrated ability to deliver results and translate words into action.
  • Keen diplomatic and interpersonal skills; ability to enhance internal and external relationships, including with partners and donors.
  • Ability to heighten the visibility of the office and programs, both within the IRC network and in the external environment.
  • Superior organizational skills: ability to set priorities and effectively manage time in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Proven digital literacy to include experience using MS Office.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15%.
