Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and supportive environment. As a NP, you will be responsible for assessing patients, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Practice under established protocols and guidelines, ensuring adherence to Kaiser Permanente's policies and California Board of Registered Nursing requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examinations, to identify and address health needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, taking into account patients' physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care and coordination.
  • Review medical records, order diagnostic studies, and establish effective communication with other healthcare providers to ensure operational efficiency and consistency of care.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families, acknowledging staff rights and cultural and ethical beliefs.
  • Delegate tasks and coordinate duties with healthcare team members, evaluating the effectiveness of care provided.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and apply safety principles, remaining calm and informed in emergency situations, and documenting events.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own professional practice, participating in staff development activities and demonstrating knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management.
  • Participate in unit and department Performance Improvement activities, identifying and solving problems effectively.
  • Demonstrate a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and healthcare team members, demonstrating proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track, and convey information.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a nurse practitioner.
  • One (1) year (within the past 3 years) experience as a NP providing care for women in family planning, perinatal care, menopause management.
Education
  • Masters Degree in Nursing (unless already a Kaiser Permanente employee who was grandfathered in prior to California Business and Professions Code requirement in January 1, 2008).
  • Completion of masters program in Adult NP, Family Practice NP or Womens Health NP required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Nurse Practitioner Certificate (California).
  • Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number (California).
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Nurse Practitioner National Certificate.
Additional Requirements
  • Must meet credentialing requirements established for nurse practitioners within the Kaiser system (Masters Degree in Nursing and National Certification from one of the following organizations: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses).
  • Candidates must meet requirements to apply for PTAN (Provider Transaction Account Number) at the time of hire and apply within 30 days of hire.
  • Also refer to Position Specifications outlined in the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
