Senior Automation Engineer

The Senior Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in delivering production support across various products and manufacturing lines. This position involves auditing processes and developing work instructions that enhance lean manufacturing methodologies. The engineer will troubleshoot component malfunctions and conduct analysis and repairs of production systems. Additionally, support for product design, development, and testing during integration phases is essential.
This role typically involves both independent and collaborative work, contributing to moderately complex project aspects. A minimum of 4-7 years of relevant experience is generally required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop scripts for testing, updating, and imaging hardware systems in a production environment using our test automation platform.
- Investigate, design, test, and assess existing scripts for compatibility with new end-user device equipment, adapting to customer needs.
- Configure network, software, and hardware components to fulfill internal and client specifications.
- Provide both on-site and remote support to production lines and the Manufacturing Engineering team.
- Design software products from unit to system testing, which includes researching requirements, creating test plans, developing automated testing frameworks, and enhancing automated scripts to ensure high-quality products for customers.
- Research, develop, manage, and maintain software testing techniques and practices for LINUX/UNIX and Windows environments to guarantee quality solutions.
- Assist in the design, development, and testing of integration phases with engineering and customers as necessary.
- Support the creation of clear work instructions for production teams and promote lean manufacturing practices in the processing of these instructions.
- Troubleshoot test automation failures in collaboration with internal engineering and customers as required.
- Engage regularly with internal clients (Engineering/Sales Ops/Management) to ascertain their requirements and formulate delivery plans and schedules.
- Possess experience with white box systems and Tier 1 suppliers, including Supermicro, Dell, Lenovo, and HPE platforms, and be capable of troubleshooting their hardware issues.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills for client hardware support via phone and email.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Commit to maintaining the highest quality standards in daily activities and outputs to customers.
- Act as a safety steward, practicing and promoting safety in all daily activities while encouraging others to adhere to safety standards.
- Adhere to all guidelines and procedures related to the protection of the Company's Information Assets, Security, and Systems, as well as those of our Clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Over 4 years of experience in creating complex shell scripts and automation within Linux and MS Windows environments.
- Expertise in Python, Shell, and Powershell scripting.
- Ability to develop complex custom executables for software bundle deployment and provide training for Level I and II Automation Engineers.
- Capability to work independently and lead a collaborative team.
- Support internal process design and change management for CCI processes related to design, development, implementation, testing, and maintenance of complex code bases.
- Experience in designing, executing, and automating integration, component, system, and unit level tests, along with analyzing and evaluating results.
- Assist in designing and automating test reports and configuration documentation in accordance with customer standards.
General Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Proficient in hardware problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with ERP and PLM systems.
- Solid understanding of PC/server architecture and networking.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Independent problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to implement corporate policies when selecting methods, techniques, and processes for production.
- Flexibility to work as business needs dictate, which may include extended hours, weekends, and occasional travel for meetings or training.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls, as well as reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Training for Level III Team.
Work Environment
CCI On-Site and remote (within CCI protected Development Environment).
Travel Requirements
Infrequent travel may be necessary (1-2 times per year).
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be authorized to work in the US.
