**Job Summary**
Our Fuels and Lubricants Research Division at Southwest Research Institute is seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to support our engine oil testing activities in our dynamometer test laboratory. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for facilitating engine oil tests, interacting with clients, and developing project plans and procedures.
**Key Responsibilities**- Conduct engine oil tests in our dynamometer test laboratory, ensuring high-quality results and compliance with test procedures.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their goals and objectives, and ensure that their needs are met.
- Develop and implement project plans and procedures, communicating effectively with laboratory staff and clients.
- Identify opportunities to develop new capabilities and expand laboratory services in response to client needs.
- Prepare and submit test reports, proposals, and internal procedures, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Participate in leadership roles within industry forums, contributing to the development of standardized test types.
- Perform lubricant testing in our dynamometer facilities, maintaining strong relationships with clients and ensuring project objectives are met.
- Develop innovative solutions to project challenges, expanding laboratory capabilities and providing project leadership.
- Apply engineering principles to ensure test quality and compliance with test procedures, planning, coordinating, and controlling assigned projects.
- Communicate effectively with clients and staff, summarizing test data and preparing written reports.
- Interface with laboratory and support groups, handling contractual, legal, accounting, fabrication, and purchasing requirements.
- Market our services to current and prospective customers, promoting our expertise in engine oil testing.
- Prepare and present technical papers to further our mission and contribute to industry knowledge.
- Be available to field phone calls as needed, supporting our 24/7 laboratory operations.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 0-5 years of relevant experience, with a strong background in engine oil testing and laboratory operations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Ability to work in a laboratory setting with noise, heat, oil, fuel, humidity, and other environmental factors.
- A valid and clear driver's license is required.
