Newark, New Jersey, United States Pillar College Inc Full time
Job Overview

The Admissions Coordinator (AC) is a full-time role that functions similarly to a telemarketer and field sales representative, reporting directly to the Director of Admissions. This position is crucial for facilitating new student recruitment and enrollment initiatives.

The AC is tasked with scheduling prospective student visits each month, conducting 10-20 admissions interviews weekly, making 100 calls to prospective students daily, and achieving set monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.

This role demands extensive phone work, requiring the individual to remain seated at a desk for prolonged periods while on calls or standing at off-campus college fairs and recruitment events. The ideal candidate must resonate with the college's mission and possess a genuine passion for transforming the lives of prospective students through a Pillar College education. The ability to handle constant rejection from hesitant prospective students while thriving in a fast-paced, results-driven environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities

General Duties:

  • Achieve enrollment targets as per the Admissions department's goals.
  • Conduct heavy phone outreach; making 100 outbound calls daily to set admissions interviews with prospective students.
  • Communicate a strong sense of urgency to prospective students to complete their application processes before deadlines.
  • Availability for weekend, evening, and split shift work is required.
  • Assist with cross-departmental projects and front desk duties as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospective and current student interactions within the college database.

Recruitment & Admissions:

  • Meet personal enrollment goals to support departmental objectives.
  • Follow up on inquiries and incomplete applications through various communication methods.
  • Provide accurate information regarding admissions, registration, and financial aid policies.
  • Assist students with any enrollment-related issues.
  • Review applicant files thoroughly to understand each candidate's background.
  • Process applications in accordance with college admissions policies.
  • Collaborate with other Admissions team members to track applicants' progress.
  • Participate in campus events, information sessions, and open houses.
  • Engage in on and off-campus recruitment events regularly.
Qualifications

Experience:

  • Preferred experience in higher education sales, telemarketing, or tele-counseling.
  • Ability to engage in prolonged phone conversations.
  • Proficient in computer skills and database management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Background in marketing, sales, financial aid, or telemarketing is advantageous.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0 is necessary for student employees in this role.
  • Proficiency in both Spanish and English is preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred.
  • Professional appearance is required; business professional dress code.

Christian Life:

  • Must maintain a consistent and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, in line with the college's statement of faith.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Respectful and open-minded towards various Christian traditions represented at the college.
  • Comfortable presenting to both large and small audiences.
Working Conditions

Work under pressure to meet enrollment goals in a pleasant, professional office environment. Availability for nights and weekends is required, with approximately 40% of time spent recruiting off-site and 60% focused on converting prospective students into enrolled students.

Physical Demands

Majority of time spent seated at a desk using a phone and computer, with some standing required at events. May involve carrying display equipment and literature, and driving distances as necessary.

Compensation

Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with education and experience.
