Shipping and Logistics Assistant Manager

APPARATUS is a New York-based designer and manufacturer of high-end, high-touch lighting, furniture, and objects.

We produce both in-house and with the support of high-quality external partners. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operations of the team to meet or exceed Production and launch calendar commitments and ensure uninterrupted workflow.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing shipping duties, including processing carrier shipments, coordinating crating and freight services, and generating shipping quotes according to work instructions.
  • Producing consistent and high-quality work, on-time and according to department standards.
  • Maintaining expert-level understanding of all freight carriers, documentation requirements, and shipping parameters.
  • Accountable for accurate and complete work instructions that meet internal standards and are clear to the Shipping department.
  • Training and mentoring team members, setting the standard for best practices for the Shipping department.
  • Performing quality control inspection.
  • Leading by example, promoting skill-building, continuous improvement, and change adoption, driving excellence in productivity and quality.
  • Supporting management team in leadership and continuous refinement of team practices.
  • Reconciling and conducting root cause analysis on issues.
  • Collaborating with APPARATUS Sales and Client Services departments on cross-functional needs such as process improvement.
  • Understanding and acting on key department performance metrics.
  • Complying with all Company policies, guiding and training team members as necessary.
  • Supporting company initiatives and projects on an as-needed basis.

Requirements include:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a comparable role and business, specializing in high-quality products.
  • Bachelor's degree: Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business Administration concentration a plus.
  • Firm grasp of production and management principles.
  • Material and manufacturing knowledge of metal, glass, porcelain, and leather a plus.
  • Salesforce and/or ERP knowledge a plus.

This is a full-time position with competitive compensation and benefits. Position is based at APPARATUS PRODUCTION in Red Hook.
