We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at American Water Works Company Inc. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient operation of our wastewater treatment plant.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain safe and efficient operation of all wastewater treatment plant equipment, including physical rounds of the plant and identifying potential problems.
- Operate equipment used to thicken and dewater sludge going to and drawn from anaerobic digesters, as well as equipment used for cake disposal and bulking agent addition.
- Monitor plant process functions using GE and PI software, identifying trends and reporting malfunctioning equipment.
- Engage in training activities, including attending supplier training, reviewing Standard Operating Procedures, and receiving instruction on various processes.
- Make process changes using the GE Computer System, initiating control changes and directing equipment re-assignment as needed.
- Oversee operation of the wastewater treatment plant in the absence of the supervisor, assigning areas of responsibility and completing daily shift operations paperwork.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License required.
- PA DEP A-1 Wastewater Operator license preferred or the ability to obtain a DEP license as per contract.
- Must pass a background check, including a drug test and motor vehicle check.
