Position Title:
Manufacturing Engineering Lead

Reporting To:
Vice President of Engineering

Objective:
To oversee and enhance the current and future capabilities of equipment and processes in alignment with the company's strategic goals.

Scope of Work:
The manufacturing operations at Phoenix Stamping Group encompass multiple facilities, a workforce exceeding 200 individuals, and a substantial capital expenditure budget exceeding $2 million.

Primary Responsibilities:
Direct and manage the manufacturing engineering function to achieve departmental and organizational objectives:


Lead, mentor, and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team to promote standardization and waste reduction, focusing on the creation of standard operating procedures, process enhancements, and cost-saving initiatives.


Supervise the procurement, design, and installation of new machinery, manufacturing cells, and processes while continuously assessing existing equipment to ensure production capabilities align with the company's product and process requirements.

Oversee all manufacturing engineering activities and standard operating procedures, emphasizing ongoing process enhancements.

Assess process capabilities to guarantee optimal quality, utilization, and efficiency.

Employ effective root cause analysis techniques to devise, implement, and validate corrective actions and controls.

Promote equipment and process standardization across all manufacturing locations.

Support the development and implementation of visual management tools and evaluate their effectiveness.

Oversee the creation and upkeep of standard work instructions as a continuous training resource.

Assist the VP of Engineering in formulating and executing the long-term strategy and vision for the department.

Utilize proficient project management skills to plan, execute, and facilitate operational improvements:


Employ a blend of technical expertise and project management capabilities to guide and manage capital investments in manufacturing capacity and capabilities.

Ability to create detailed project plans involving cross-functional stakeholders.


Ability to manage and collaborate with various functional groups and key stakeholders to successfully execute projects.

Engage in the product development process to assess process pathways and design for manufacturability.

Operate Within Company Standards:
Advocate for continuous improvement initiatives through knowledge sharing, training, procurement, and process optimization.

Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment adhering to 6S principles and participate in audits as necessary


Collaborate with other functional groups and departments to enhance operational capabilities, implement changes, and communicate timelines, deliverables, and resource requirements to ensure timely project completion.

Ensure that operational activities and management of equipment and materials are conducted in a manner consistent with responsible stewardship.

Ensure compliance with organizational standards for quality management, health and safety, legal requirements, environmental policies, and general duty of care.

Execute all responsibilities in accordance with lawful and ethical standards as outlined by company policies and procedures.
