The Clinician is a two-year, grant-funded position at United Counseling Services. Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, the PUCK Clinician provides direct services to children and families, ensuring easy access, timely response, and flexibility to deliver services that are most often delivered within PUCK but can occur in the home and community in a trauma-informed, systems-based, coordinated, cross-sector, family-oriented approach.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Direct Clinical Services:
Provides assessment and counseling to children, families, and/or groups with behavioral, emotional mental health, and/or substance use needs. Services provided as crisis stabilization and can be intensive. Services may include providing an intake as well as clinical services and assessment, as well as consultation with the sending school/community partner. Services will be provided at PUCK or in the home, school, or office as needed. Facilitates referrals and communication between agencies for other services on behalf of the child. Attends team meetings to plan and monitor services. Competencies in screening, assessment, engagement, treatment planning, collaboration, referral, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based counseling in order to provide effective care. Have knowledge of Vermont's system of care and be able to connect individuals to the appropriate resources, including individuals with co-occurring mental health and SUD services.
2. Case Management / Service Coordination:
Provides on-going supportive and/or case management functions in accordance with the problems, needs, and the strategies identified within the treatment plan in order to assist the clients achieve the stated goals and objectives. Makes home visits to support families, as needed. Facilitates communication between agencies on behalf of the child. Attends team meetings to plan and monitor services. Provides case management, and/or coordinates with the assigned case manager.
3. Consultation/Education Services:
Provides consultation services to teachers, school personnel, and community partners as needed. Consultation can be educational or evaluative. Also provides consultation and support to staff.
4. Clinical Record Keeping:
Responsible for all required written documentation, that adhere to all UCS recordkeeping requirements for all cases. Completes time sheets and other paperwork on a daily basis. All documentation should adhere to all funded regulatory requirements, to include Medicaid/Medicare and third-party standards.
5. Administrative:
Collaborate and attends all necessary UCS, SVMC and school meetings to promote coordination and communication. Meet regularly with assigned supervisor. Complete as required agency trainings.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Masters Degree in a relevant human service field with some experience providing counseling services to families and children. Must have an interest in providing Trauma Based Intervention. Licensure or on track for licensure in Vermont as a Social Worker, Psychologist or Mental Health Professional required. Be knowledgeable or willing to train in the use of clinical practices informed by evidence-based models including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for ages 8-13, Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC), including use of sensory tools, Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Zero Suicide. Valid Driver's License.
