Essential Functions:

In this role, you will foster connections within the unhoused community, service providers, and local neighborhoods. Your primary responsibilities will include:

1. Establishing trust and rapport with individuals experiencing homelessness to connect them with vital services and resources.
2. Coordinating and assessing the needs of those facing homelessness through a client-centered approach.
3. Engaging in crisis intervention, utilizing de-escalation techniques, harm reduction strategies, and conflict resolution skills.
4. Collaborating with the Homeless Services Division team to address requests and support team objectives.
5. Facilitating access to emergency shelters, substance use disorder services, mental health resources, and other supportive services to promote stabilization and housing security.
6. Building partnerships with grassroots organizations, service providers, and business stakeholders to enhance community support.
7. Educating the public on local ordinances and protocols related to homeless encampments.
8. Documenting daily interactions with clients, including needs assessments, referrals, and site evaluations.

Minimum Requirements:

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:

- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in outreach or homelessness services.
- A valid driver's license and a commitment to a minimum two-year assignment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and extended shifts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

- Empathy and a genuine desire to assist the homeless population.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Suite applications.
- Experience with HMIS and ArcGIS is a plus.
