Job Title: Program Technician II

At the Department of Toxic Substances Control, we are committed to protecting the environment and public health by regulating the handling and disposal of hazardous waste. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Program Technician II to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to the public, employees, and other stakeholders on the review and processing of hazardous waste manifests.
  • Respond to telephone calls and emails from the regulated community and the general public, determining the nature of the inquiry and initiating the appropriate action.
  • Process EPA ID number applications, ensuring compliance with state law and DTSC policies.
  • Review and verify forms for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness.
  • Communicate with applicants to correct data omissions and/or inaccuracies on the forms.
Requirements:
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suites skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience in a call center and/or with customer service, phone or in-person support.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Leadership experience and ability to work effectively in a team.
