Job Summary

The Cashier is responsible for processing transactions at the checkout counter, ensuring a smooth and efficient customer experience. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
    • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
    • Greet customers entering and throughout the store, thanking them by name when possible.
    • Project a friendly and outgoing demeanor, working well with customers and associates.
    • Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently, minimizing wait times.
    • Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously, and effectively.
    • Communicate any problems or issues that require management assistance.
    • Build product knowledge and assist customers with store layout and product location.
  • Register Operations
    • Process transactions accurately and efficiently, following all cash register procedures.
    • Responsible for balancing the register drawer at the end of each shift.
    • Adhere to any company programs or promotions that require implementation at the checkout counter.
    • Participate in store and cashier meetings to stay informed and provide feedback.
  • Front End Appearance and Upkeep
    • Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including the front end and entrance doors.
    • Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, rotating fresh merchandise as seasons change.
    • Ensure fresh ads are stocked in shopping carts at all times.
    • Stock forms and supplies as needed.
    • Assist with decorating the front end according to company program.
    • Call for cart pickups when necessary.
    • Inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Cashier experience preferred, as well as customer service experience.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, and climb.
