Position Overview: The Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for executing phlebotomy tasks, which include obtaining blood samples by reviewing test requests, verifying patient identification, and performing venipunctures and fingersticks. This role also involves documenting the collection process by initialing, dating, and recording the times of specimen collection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures in accordance with established protocols and standards.
  • Accurately identify patients and ensure proper labeling of specimen containers.
  • Organize and prioritize assigned tasks to guarantee timely and precise completion of workload.
  • Provide accurate information on requisition forms to maintain high specimen quality.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, adhering to safety guidelines and departmental standards.
  • Perform clerical duties as needed, including greeting patients and managing phone inquiries in the laboratory.
  • Execute EKG procedures following established guidelines.
  • Adapt to changes in assignments and perform tasks of varying skill levels as required by departmental needs.

Additional Information: This position may involve undertaking responsibilities of a higher level in preparation for future advancement and may also require performing tasks of lesser responsibility when the department's workload necessitates.
