This position is located in the city of San Mateo.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Determining vocational rehabilitation eligibility
  • Determining priority for services
  • Development of the Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE)
  • Determining amendments to the IPE
  • Determining successful employment outcome achieved and completing case closure for services of Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) consumers

The Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Qualified Rehabilitation Professional (SVRC, QRP) is accountable for the quality, quantity, and effectiveness of consumer employment outcomes and must effectively and consistently align the non-delegable duties with the delegable tasks performed by other team members for each consumer's case.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Conducts community outreach to generate appropriate consumer referrals
  • Attends, participates, and presents information regarding the DOR program at a variety of public forums such as group orientations and job fairs
  • Provides training and participates in workgroups as assigned

The San Mateo/Foster City Office has easy access from freeway and free parking. We are close to a variety of restaurants, shopping and Leo Ryan Park.

The San Francisco District is responsible for service delivery of Federal Title I Vocational Rehabilitation Services Program. The services assist eligible individuals in achieving their employment goals by providing training, assistive technology, supported employment and job placement support.

DOR is closely monitoring the status of COVID-19 and ensuring our staff are supported in a safe work environment. While working on-site at any DOR facility, employees must follow current COVID-19 health orders issued by the California Department of Public Health or local health jurisdiction. DOR offers a hybrid work environment including in-office and remote work options for various positions.

Requirements:
  • A Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, counseling or a closely related field from a recognized institution
  • Successful completion of one graduate course with a primary focus on the theories and techniques in counseling
  • Reliability, dependability, and exceptional interpersonal skills
