Job Summary

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) is seeking a highly skilled Law Enforcement Specialist to join our team. As a Law Enforcement Specialist, you will play a critical role in preparing federal law enforcement officers to safeguard America's people, property, and institutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct classroom, laboratory, and/or field instruction sessions as part of the Maritime and General Training Branch (MGT) training program.
  • Develop and deliver training curriculum in maritime topical areas, including vessel intercepts, vessel pursuits, pre-boarding procedures, and commercial vessel tactical entry techniques.
  • Evaluate the performance of other officers/agents as a collateral responsibility.
  • Collaborate with other instructors to ensure the delivery of high-quality training programs.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license to conduct official government business.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain FLETC Law Enforcement Instructor certification within 12 months of employment.
  • Must be able to meet job-related medical and/or fitness standards.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification within 12 months of employment.
Qualifications
  • One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as performing maritime training instructional duties, evaluating other officer/agents, and instructing basic and advanced law enforcement training curriculum.
  • Must have been certified as a vessel operator with a law enforcement agency or possess a U.S. Coast Guard/Merchant Mariner license.
Working Conditions

This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment, and persons convicted of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence are prohibited from occupying this position. Travel of 25% or less may be required. Overtime may be required.

This position is designated as Emergency Essential, and you will be required to sustain FLETC operations in the event of a localized situation.
