Role Summary:

The Clinical Support Specialist plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care by providing both clinical and administrative assistance to healthcare providers and the patient care team. This position is essential in facilitating efficient patient flow and ensuring the effective implementation of medical care plans. The specialist utilizes a blend of educational knowledge, technical skills, and interpersonal abilities to foster trust and cooperation among patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals. All responsibilities are carried out under the supervision of a licensed clinician.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program recognized by the Medical Board of California is required.
  • Alternatively, completion of Sutter Health's equivalent on-the-job training.

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
  • Medical Assistant certification from a recognized California agency is required for incentive eligibility.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a clinical setting.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of medical procedures and equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Proficient in essential Medical Assisting tasks, including taking vital signs and preparing patients for examinations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, capable of prioritizing tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records (EHR).

  • Work autonomously and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Identify and resolve standard issues by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.

Work Schedule:

This position requires full-time availability with variable days and shifts, including day and evening hours.
