Job Summary

The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a skilled Custodian to join our Facilities Maintenance team. As a key member of our Custodial Relief Program, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces
  • Maintain building interiors and surrounding areas, including restrooms and common areas
  • Operate various cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and floor polishers
  • Remove waste materials and recyclables
  • Care for custodian tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition
  • Secure buildings as required, including locking doors and windows
  • Drive vans and trucks safely, adhering to traffic laws and regulations
  • Perform other related duties as required to support the Facilities Maintenance team
Requirements
  • Experience: Candidates must have six months of verifiable paid full-time custodial experience or equivalent training
  • License: Must possess a valid California Driver's License
  • Availability: Must be available to work between 4:00 am - 10:30 pm for at least four consecutive days every week
  • Ability to drive large vehicles and work alone during early morning and late night shifts
Preferred Qualifications
  • Custodial experience in public sector environments
  • Completion of custodial training programs
  • Bilingual language skills
