The individual will spearhead the development, implementation, and management of a company-wide security initiative that fosters collaboration and resource optimization, ensures information security governance, advises senior management on security matters, and formulates suitable policies to effectively monitor and mitigate information security risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulates an Enterprise Security strategy in alignment with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Partners with the leadership team to direct the execution of the Enterprise Security Strategy and Roadmap.
  • Oversees compliance with Federal and NYS Information Security Standards across the organization.
  • Establishes security metrics and KPIs to assess the baseline of the Enterprise's security posture.
  • Prepares and submits reports and contractual deliverables that encompass analyses, recommendations, observations, and conclusions regarding specific elements of the Security Program, aggregated across all relevant entities.
  • Manages and promotes the Enterprise Security training and education initiative.
  • Provides guidance and support to various entities on their security operations to minimize risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Monitors and tracks compliance and remediation efforts of entities concerning corrective action plans.
  • Leads and manages the response to information system security incidents affecting the organization, in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Ensures timely completion and implementation of remediation activities resulting from security risk assessments and tests, including but not limited to HIPAA Security Risk Assessments and Business Continuity, Incident Response, and Disaster Recovery plan testing.
  • Maintains current and detailed knowledge of the IT security landscape, including awareness of security solutions, enhanced security processes, and emerging threats.
  • Researches additional security solutions or enhancements to existing measures to bolster overall Enterprise security.
  • Analyzes and evaluates best practices in information security governance, including organizational policies, procedures, standards, baselines, and guidelines for information systems operation.
  • Acts as a liaison among multiple entities regarding information security matters.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in health information security management, health information management, information systems, and/or health risk management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Possession of an information security certification, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Security+, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or equivalent credentials.
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with healthcare privacy, security, and related laws, rules, standards, and regulations, including prior experience with the NIST and Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) and associated guidance documents.
  • Demonstrated experience with legal and regulatory requirements such as HITECH, HIPAA Privacy & Security, and other relevant NYS and CMS regulations and guidelines.
  • Proficient in cloud-native security solutions for environments such as AWS, Azure, and Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with the HITRUST Common Security Framework and MARS-E Security and Privacy controls is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal and collaborative abilities, enabling effective communication of security and risk-related concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and propose solutions for security risks.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or a related field is required; a Master's degree in Information Systems or Information Technology is preferred.
