Key Responsibilities
  • Process billing account information for City utility services, including payments, service requests, and adjustments.
  • Perform cashier duties, including receiving payments, issuing receipts, and balancing cash drawers.
  • Enroll new customers and close customer accounts, track services provided, and verify proper billing.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and accurate service to the public with billing questions, requests for information, and complaints.
  • Resolve customer complaints and requests for information by researching files and records, explaining rates and policies, and referring matters to supervisors as needed.
  • Update and track electronic and paper files, records, and reports, maintaining file integrity and confidentiality.
  • Establish, track, and audit accounts for North Texas Transportation Association (NTTA) toll tag receipts and fire hydrant meters/accounts.
  • Maintain residential and commercial accounts within the current software.
  • Ensure the accuracy of electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Perform mathematical calculations and enter data into computer systems with speed and accuracy.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the public.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years of responsible clerical experience interacting with the public.
  • Must pass a criminal background check, credit check, and drug test.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with Incode/Utility Billing, cash handling, and 10-key calculator by touch.
  • Must be bondable and bilingual preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License required.
Working Conditions

The position requires prolonged sitting, frequent repetitive keyboarding motion, and walking, standing, stooping, pushing, dragging, light and heavy lifting. The incumbent must work under pressure of deadlines and with frequent interruptions, and risk is involved in handling money.
