Manufacturing Operations Supervisor

The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive manufacturing processes and activities within the production and packaging lines of the facility. The primary goal is to ensure the delivery of superior quality products while minimizing costs. This role involves managing the workflow of production and packaging processes, optimizing assembly methods, and maximizing workforce efficiency. A strong emphasis is placed on compliance with plant and regulatory safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct ongoing assessments for process improvements.
- Work collaboratively with management and team members to evaluate production runs and suggest enhancements.
- Develop and maintain production schedules; approve schedule modifications; adjust materials as necessary.
- Integrate new customer orders into the production workflow promptly.
- Prioritize the rescheduling of any missed production items.
- Analyze scrap levels and implement strategies to achieve efficiency targets.
- Ensure optimal functioning of mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate with internal departments as needed (e.g., Human Resources, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance).
- Manage staffing needs on an as-needed basis.
- Review financial variance analyses, comparing actual results against standards and budgets, and assess performance with the Accounting team.
- Investigate causes of variances; propose and execute procedures to enhance performance.
- Maintain continuous readiness for safety audits and inspections.
- Conduct internal audits to align with standards set by the American Institute of Baking (AIB) and other regulatory bodies.
- Encourage teamwork and achievement of departmental goals.
- Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures across the board.
- Establish safety standards and ensure adherence to accident prevention and security protocols.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing, including supervisory roles.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
- Proficient presentation skills.
- Computer skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and SAP inventory systems.
- Experience in the baking industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with dough handling and freezer operations is advantageous.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret production schedules, safety regulations, and operational manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and effectively communicating with groups.
