Social Services Supervisor

Join the Georgia Department of Human Services as a Social Services Supervisor and play a vital role in strengthening Georgia by providing individuals and families access to services that promote self-sufficiency, independence, and protect Georgia's vulnerable children and adults.
About the Role:This position is responsible for supervising and guiding the work assignments of subordinate staff, as well as directing professional staff in the delivery of services. The successful candidate will set unit goals and regulate workloads in accordance with the agency's goals, ensuring that immediate and follow-up actions for at-risk clients occur in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and plan work of assigned staff
- Access and record client and community resource information
- Collect evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare necessary reports according to rules and regulations, state and federal laws
- Compile records and prepare reports; perform follow-up to determine the status of client's case
- Conduct home-visit evaluations for information gathering to be used in assessments
- Coordinate and monitor children in out-of-home placements and in-home interventions
- Coordinate and monitor services, including comprehensive tracking of client's activities
- Develop case plans that effectively utilize community resources to meet the needs of individual custodial clients
- Identify placement resources for children within the foster care system
- Initiate the legal process for guardianship, protective services, placement, and/or adoption
- Maintain required documentation and complete reports
- Make immediate assessments regarding safety of clients and respond according to established protocols and policies
- Perform initial investigations of protective services referrals to determine the appropriateness of protective services intervention
- Review, approve/disapprove, or render decisions on casework being performed by staff
- Work in collaboration with the legal system to ensure safety and achieve desired outcomes
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university
- One (1) year of experience in a lead/supervisory capacity
- OR Master's degree in any behavioral science from an accredited college or university
- Two (2) years case management experience
- OR Bachelor of Social Work degree from an accredited college or university
- Two (2) years case management experience
- OR Bachelor's degree in any behavioral science
- Three (3) years case management experience
- OR One (1) year of experience at lower level Social Svcs Spec 3 (SSP072) or position equivalent
- Must have reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, a valid state-issued driver's license, an acceptable driving history record, and the ability to travel statewide
