Job Summary

This is a temporary position not-to-exceed 30-SEP-2025 with the possibility to be extended up to an additional year, not to exceed a total appointment of 24 months.

Responsibilities
  • Assists skilled trade or craftsmen by fetching tools, materials, holds, moves, rearranges, lifts, carries and stacks items and objects, cleans tools, equipment and work areas.
  • Drives station wagon and van when required. Assures that cargo is properly located, distributed and secured.
  • Completes trip tickets and preventative service records; fills out drivers accident report in case of accident.
  • Performs drivers maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations.
  • May occasionally drive other type and size of vehicles for which qualified and licensed when required by the work load.
  • Digs and grades ditches and trenches with pick and shovel; operates power lawn mower, adjusting mechanisms, oiling and cleaning.
  • May occasionally operate jack hammer or power tools.
Requirements
  • Current enrollment or acceptance for enrollment in a qualifying educational institution seeking a degree or certificate on a full or half-time basis, as defined by the educational institution.
  • Must be able to work full-time when not attending classes (i.e. summers, fall and spring breaks, etc).
  • Must be able to work under higher-graded employees in the Operation Divisions, New York District or at the North Atlantic Division.
