Position Overview

This role is integral to the ongoing success of the Community College System of New Hampshire.

General Summary: Under the guidance of the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA), this position plays a crucial role in the administration of academic programs and student services. The incumbent will be involved in the strategic planning, development, execution, and assessment of academic and student initiatives, policies, and services, while also contributing to the establishment and realization of campus strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads efforts to enhance educational quality, evaluating and systematically assessing academic offerings, student learning outcomes, and overall student experiences.
  • Assists in the daily operations of the college, which includes strategic planning, financial oversight, resource development, policy formulation, employee relations, and addressing student concerns.
  • Provides direct supervision to the Director and academic personnel within The Center for Academic Planning and Support, as well as the Director and staff of the Registrar's Office.
  • Oversees all functions of Academic and Student Affairs in the absence of the VPAA and VPSSEM.
  • Collaborates closely with Academic Department Chairs and Program Coordinators to manage the development and analysis of academic course schedules.
  • Works in partnership with Student Services staff to enhance student onboarding, retention, persistence, and completion, particularly in relation to guided pathways initiatives and co-requisite developmental education.
  • Administers the Perkins Program Improvement grant and seeks additional grant opportunities relevant to academic and student affairs.
  • Contributes to the design and facilitation of professional development and training sessions for faculty and staff, focusing on best practices and available resources.
  • Participates as a member of relevant College and CCSNH committees.
  • Handles administrative responsibilities related to maintaining a safe work environment, employee training, professional development, and orientation for staff, while ensuring compliance with job expectations and performance monitoring.
  • Enhances professional and technical knowledge by engaging in educational workshops, participating in professional organizations, and attending pertinent meetings and seminars.
  • Adheres to all applicable system, college, campus, state, and federal regulations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: A Master's degree from an accredited institution in education, higher education administration, business administration, organizational leadership, or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of six years in academic affairs, academic or career advising, student services, or related roles within higher education, including at least four years in a supervisory capacity.

Licenses/Certifications: A valid Driver's License or access to statewide transportation.

Preferred Qualifications: Administrative experience in higher education, strong oral and written communication skills, proven ability to work collaboratively and lead projects, knowledge of supervision principles, and effective relationship-building skills with diverse student populations. Experience in curriculum development, assessment, project management, budget management, and strategic planning is also desirable. Familiarity with learning management systems and administrative software is a plus. Experience in handling student conduct cases and involvement in student development programming is advantageous.
