Beep Inc. is leading the charge in autonomous technology, and we are seeking a dedicated individual for a pivotal role within our organization. The Autonomous Vehicle Systems Engineer will be an integral part of our AV Operations team, directly reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance & Deployments. This position is essential in ensuring that Beep's fleet of Autonomous Vehicles is effectively delivered, routed, and maintained to guarantee optimal customer service uptime while providing safe and reliable transportation solutions. The key responsibilities of this role encompass designing, mapping, and programming autonomous geo-fenced routes. Furthermore, the Autonomous Vehicle Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in managing technical relationships with various vendors, supporting maintenance initiatives, conducting vehicle inspections, verifying completed maintenance tasks, overseeing aftermarket modifications, and collaborating with vendors to troubleshoot any issues that may impede shuttle autonomous route functionality.

This is a full-time opportunity based at our headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Beep Command Center to assist in diagnosing issues related to Automated Drive Systems (ADS).
  • Diagnose and resolve level 1 and 2 technical challenges while assisting in troubleshooting Beep's fleet of autonomous vehicles.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to vendor Operation Design Document limitations during the creation of autonomous route planning and operations.
  • Manage the implications of vendor software updates on Beep's autonomous vehicles, ensuring safe operation in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Thoroughly document completed work and travel expenses using online reporting systems.
  • Effectively prioritize and organize tasks across multiple projects, demonstrating adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  • Work closely with sales and pre-sales teams to assess route and vehicle capabilities during contract negotiations for new locations.
  • Prepare and present technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), spreadsheets, and data analyses.
  • Engage with external vehicle vendors to procure necessary parts and services.
  • Maintain vendor commissioning certifications (training will be provided).

Qualifications:
  • Proficient in using proprietary software for diagnosing issues and calibrating vehicle components.
  • Ability to identify challenges and propose improvements to existing processes.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Motivated to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting with shared objectives.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines.

  • Preferred: 1+ years of experience with C++ software, familiarity with Python, and 1+ years of experience with Linux and SSH commands.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer-Aided Design, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in the automotive or engineering sectors, focusing on vehicular operations.
  • Experience in autonomous fleet maintenance is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and/or driving, predominantly during nighttime hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time.
