We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at GEI Consultants, Inc. in Madison, Wisconsin.
About the Role:As a Project Engineer, you will provide support to ongoing field and engineering design efforts under the supervision of senior staff. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting services in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: Water Resources (Hydrology and Hydraulics), Civil Engineering (Site Development), Geotechnical Engineering (Slope Stability, and Seepage, Foundations), and Solid Waste (Landfill Design and Construction Quality Assurance).
- Supporting the development of decision-making documents such as feasibility studies and cost estimates, design and procurement documents such as engineering drawings and specification packages, and tools for contractor bid evaluation and oversight.
- Supporting site investigations and site assessments including soil borings and testing, environmental sampling, and technical oversight of subcontractors.
- Collecting geotechnical/environmental data at sites.
- Supporting data management and geotechnical analysis, preparing technical reports, and assisting in preparation of presentations and proposals to clients and regulators.
- Providing quality control review of calculations and deliverables.
- Preparing proposals, developing project scope, budgets, and schedules, and performing project management.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- B.S. in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological, or Environmental Engineering; M.S. is a plus.
- E.I.T. or P.E. is a plus.
- 3-8 years of previous professional experience in civil/geotechnical/environmental engineering and consulting; knowledge and familiarity with engineering design processes.
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
- Experience with spatial analysis and visualization software such as CAD, Civil 3D, and GIS.
- Experience with geotechnical analysis software, such as GeoStudio (SEEP/W, SLOPE/W or SIGMA/W) is a plus.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight.
- 40 hr. HAZWOPER is a plus.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
