Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Anesthesia Assessment and Case Preparation
    • Conduct thorough pre-anesthesia assessments to identify potential risks and develop a plan for anesthesia care.
    • Review medical history, including anesthesia, drug, and allergy history.
    • Perform focused physical examinations to assess patient's physical state.
    • Plan for anesthesia care, including selection of anesthetic agents and techniques.
    • Obtain anesthesia informed consent from patients.
    • Collaborate with attending anesthesiologists to develop a plan for anesthesia care.
  • Intra-Operative Assessment
    • Select and apply non-invasive and invasive monitoring devices to assess patient's physiological status.
    • Select and administer anesthesia, sedation, adjuncts, and accessory drugs and fluids.
    • Manage patient airway and pulmonary status.
    • Maintain effective communication with the surgical team.
  • Post-Anesthesia Evaluation and Management
    • Implement acute and chronic pain management strategies.
    • Perform and document timely post-anesthesia evaluations.
    • Provide a complete report of patient's anesthetic course to the receiving unit.
Requirements
  • Completion of a nurse anesthesia program approved by the MD Board of Nursing.
  • Current MD State RN and CRNA license.
  • Current CPR certification and ACLS.
  • Credentialing prior to start date.
