About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Laborer/Groundman to join our team at MasTec Communications Group. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for providing general labor support for aerial and underground construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct general labor on construction sites, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Assist in the placement of conduit as directed by Foreman or Supervisor, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Participate in map reading and directions, utilizing your problem-solving skills to navigate complex projects.
  • Support trench digging and closing operations, maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.
  • Assist with the movement of materials and vehicles as directed by Foreman or Supervisor, ensuring timely and safe transportation.
  • Perform maintenance services as directed by Foreman, including cleanup, vehicle washing, and landscaping.
  • Adhere to prescribed safety procedures and utilize appropriate safety equipment at all times.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment, such as trucks and other machinery, as directed and certified.
  • Tow trailers with flatbed trucks, demonstrating your ability to work efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct aerial and underground work as needed and directed, utilizing your training and expertise.
  • Troubleshoot RF and Fiber line and equipment issues, applying your analytical skills to resolve complex problems.
  • Construct and repair underground RF and Fiber service, maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.
  • Learn to read and construct from design schematics and maps, expanding your knowledge and skills.
  • Learn all inventory and equipment required for these projects, ensuring you are well-prepared for any task.
  • As applicable, learn and become certified on the use of equipment, such as line trucks, bucket trucks, cable reel equipment, saws, and drills.
  • Climb poles safely, utilizing climbing equipment and adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Move and relocate RF and Fiber service, demonstrating your ability to work efficiently and safely.
  • Familiarize yourself with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelines, ensuring a safe work environment.
Requirements
  • Safety is a top priority in your daily work, and you have a proven track record of completing tasks with a high level of quality.
  • You have a knack for figuring out complex problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work.
  • You are looking for long-term projects and enjoy working with your team to achieve common goals.
  • You have a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • You can lift and carry up to 70 pounds, demonstrating your physical ability to perform the job requirements.
  • You have the ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process.
  • You must pass a UI Test (urinalysis) and have the ability to read and understand design schematics and maps.
  • You have climbing certification or related experience and practical working experience in overhead construction for both RF and Fiber.
  • You have knowledge of Overhead Bill of Materials and City, County, and State clearance code knowledge and related.
  • You have extensive knowledge of Network architecture and design for both RF and Fiber networks.
  • You are Flagger Certified for field work as needed and have excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills.
  • You are able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
