The Opportunity

Participants in this program will:

- Be paired with a successful school and an experienced Operations Leader, under whose guidance they will learn for one year.
- Engage in high-quality professional development and coaching aimed at enhancing their operational expertise, achieving significant objectives at their assigned school, and reflecting on their practical experiences.
Upon completion of the Fellowship, participants will:

- Be equipped for a leadership role in school operations.
- Gain access to ongoing professional development and coaching, ensuring their success in their inaugural year as a School Operations Leader.

About SchoolOps

SchoolOps is a nationwide organization based in Washington State dedicated to providing every school with access to exceptional professional development and support for its operations teams. We have collaborated across various states to unite communities of operations learners, offering them national best practices, a comprehensive resource library, and facilitated discussions to collaboratively address challenges. We believe that effective operations are crucial to student success, and investing in operations teams lays the groundwork for sustainable educational institutions. The SchoolOps Team is proud to present the Fellowship for School Operations Leadership.

Location

Each participant will be matched with a school in Washington State, and applicants should be prepared to relocate if they are not already residents. We particularly encourage candidates open to placements in any region of Washington State.

Responsibilities

Participants will work on-site at their assigned school daily and attend monthly professional development and coaching sessions. Daily tasks will vary by placement but generally include collaborating with the hosting Operations Leader to learn about and implement school operational systems and process enhancements. Each participant will also undertake at least one Capstone Project, providing an opportunity to lead and advance critical initiatives within a specific operational area. Participants will engage in various operational domains, including:

Requirements

Skills and Experience:

Prior experience in education or operations is not mandatory. We seek candidates with a strong ability to execute tasks efficiently and demonstrate high operational potential, which includes the following skills and attributes:
  • Systems-oriented mindset.
  • Deep understanding of the significance of anti-racist and inclusive practices in education.
  • Willingness to give and receive frequent feedback, with the ability to implement it swiftly.
  • Capacity to calmly evaluate strengths and weaknesses within processes and devise plans to enhance them.
  • Highly organized, with a commitment to documenting all tasks, appointments, and deadlines.
  • Adept at prioritizing and executing critical workstreams amidst competing demands.
  • Strong dedication to personal professional development, including participation in all professional development activities and collaboration with a manager to enhance operational and leadership skills.
Benefits

Compensation

Participants will receive a salary ranging from $60,000 to $70,000 during the Fellowship year. Completion of this Fellowship does not guarantee a leadership role in operations but serves as preparation for such positions, with typical salary ranges from approximately $85,000 to $115,000.

Participants will have access to a competitive benefits package throughout their Fellowship. All participants will be covered by Washington's State Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) and the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). For more details, please refer to the respective links.
