About the Role:

HKS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Project Architect to join their Health team in Houston. As a recognized leader and licensed Architect, you will be responsible for envisioning, designing, and delivering exceptional projects for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Project Architects in planning work and developing solutions to technical and design detail problems.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers in defining project work plans and developing and managing the production schedule.
  • Develop and modify complex detailed implementation documents to incorporate the design intent.
  • Supervise the preparation of documents by the architectural team, ensuring they conform to QA/QC and HKS standards.
  • Manage the technical resolution and coordination for the project.
  • Write reports or specifications for assigned projects.
  • Prepare client presentations and present design concepts and drawings.
  • Maintain open communication with clients and provide guidance through projects.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors to incorporate engineering systems and obtain approvals.
  • Communicate with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications.
  • Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings, documenting as needed.
  • Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings.
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team.
  • Actively promote and incorporate the firm's principles of 'design excellence' through responsible and sustainable design practice.
  • Collaborate in managing projects to satisfy requirements from budget and schedule perspectives.
  • Responsible for delivering projects on defined budget requirements and maintaining accountability to project plans.
  • Support and may lead the business development process by identifying new opportunities and marketing current clients for repeat business.
  • May lead proposal preparation processes and participate in negotiation of scope and fees on contracts.

Requirements:

  • Accredited professional degree in Architecture.
  • Architectural Registration required.
  • Typically 15+ years of experience.
  • Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  • Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D modeling software preferred.
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, accessibility guidelines, and QA/QC process.
  • Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into implementation documents.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to manage a team with diplomatic leadership style, valuing relationships and collaboration, both internal and external.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
