JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Conducts a range of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks for the Senior Center facilities.

Operates under the guidance of the Senior Citizens Administrator, Program Coordinator, and Center Coordinator.


Utilizes exceptional customer service abilities to foster and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, officials, and the public.

Drives a vehicle to support departmental operations.

Minimal supervision is provided in this role.

This position necessitates working independently and autonomously.

Must be able to collaborate effectively with team members when required.

Handles custodial equipment and other tools as assigned.

Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.

Performs tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, shampooing, steam cleaning, stripping, waxing, polishing, and buffing floors, carpets, and furniture.

Empties trash receptacles and replaces liners.


Sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies; cleans spills; maintains drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, walls, fixtures, blinds, and light fixtures.

Washes windows, walls, and both metal and wood surfaces.

Picks up litter around the premises.


Conducts minor semi-skilled interior maintenance and repairs, including painting, flooring, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical tasks, and other related work.

Inspects and maintains custodial equipment and small tools to ensure proper functionality.

Locks and unlocks facilities as necessary and sets alarms when appropriate.

Keeps records of completed tasks.

Maintains up-to-date skills and knowledge regarding safe building maintenance practices.

Reports safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to supervisors.

Monitors custodial supply inventory and communicates needs to the supervisor.

Exhibits a friendly demeanor and responds to the needs of senior patrons.

Regular attendance is a crucial aspect of this position.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Arranges and sets up furniture, artwork, etc., as needed, and prepares coffee as required.

Participates in other related senior activities within the Senior Center or externally, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is subject to the City's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Program, which includes pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing, and follow-up testing.

Any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the work.

Familiarity with equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance.

Knowledge of tools and supplies for minor repairs.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for the past three years or state of current residency.

Basic knowledge of first aid and applicable safety measures.

Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Ability to work independently and complete daily tasks according to the work schedule.


Proficiency in operating listed tools and equipment, with the ability to use them safely and effectively.

Ability to communicate, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and other City departments. Ability to interact effectively and courteously with the public.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Floor buffers, steam cleaners, carpet cleaners, washers, vacuum cleaners, mops, brooms, dusting tools, motor vehicle.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.

The employee frequently stands, walks, and uses hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls.

The employee occasionally sits; climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls; and talks or listens.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and the ability to stand for extended periods.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.

The employee may work in high, precarious places and may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals.

The employee may also be at risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet during indoor night shift operations.
