JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
PRIMARY DUTIES:
The Lead Custodial Specialist is responsible for executing a range of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks for the Senior Center facilities.
This role operates under the guidance of the Senior Citizens Administrator, Program Coordinator, and Center Coordinator.
Utilizing strong customer service abilities, the specialist will foster and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, officials, and the public.
Minimal supervision is provided in this role.
The position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently and efficiently.
Collaboration with co-workers is essential when necessary.
Responsibilities also include operating custodial machinery and performing various cleaning tasks such as:
- Changing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
- Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and shampooing floors and furniture.
- Emptying trash receptacles and replacing liners.
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and replenishing supplies.
- Washing windows and maintaining cleanliness of walls and fixtures.
- Performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as painting and plumbing.
- Inspecting and maintaining custodial equipment.
- Managing facility access and setting alarms as needed.
- Keeping accurate records of completed tasks.
- Staying updated on safe maintenance practices.
- Reporting any safety or sanitary concerns to supervisors.
- Monitoring inventory of cleaning supplies and communicating needs.
- Displaying a friendly demeanor and responding to the needs of senior patrons.
Attendance is a critical aspect of this role.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
May include moving and arranging furniture, preparing coffee, and assisting with other senior activities as required.
The duties outlined above are representative of the various tasks that may be performed.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position is subject to the City's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Program, which includes various testing protocols.

Knowledge of cleaning equipment, materials, and maintenance supplies is essential.
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
Basic knowledge of first aid and safety precautions is preferred.
Ability to work a flexible schedule and independently manage daily tasks is necessary.
Skills in operating tools and equipment safely and effectively are required.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Floor buffers, steam cleaners, vacuum cleaners, mops, and various cleaning tools.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
The employee frequently stands, walks, and uses hands to operate tools and equipment.
The employee may occasionally sit, climb, kneel, or crawl, and must be able to communicate effectively.The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts and in various environmental conditions.
Exposure to wet conditions, fumes, and cleaning chemicals may occur.
