Role Summary:

The Educational Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting the lead educator in fostering a productive learning environment for a diverse group of elementary students (K-5). This position is ideal for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Execute lesson plans as directed by the lead educator, including managing instructional groups.
  2. Assist in the creation and preparation of educational materials for classroom activities.
  3. Support the administration of assessments and monitor student progress.
  4. Collaborate with the educator to document academic achievements through observations and data collection.
  5. Implement and maintain effective behavior management strategies and classroom organization.
  6. Fulfill paraprofessional duties in the absence of the lead educator.
  7. Stay informed on best practices in education through professional development opportunities.
  8. Perform necessary caretaking and maintenance duties to ensure a clean and safe classroom environment.
  9. Foster positive communication and relationships with staff and parents.
  10. Participate in required training sessions, meetings, and events.
  11. Report any concerns or complaints from parents or students to administration.
  12. Adhere to the policies and guidelines established by UCP and relevant educational authorities.
  13. Carry out additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Completion of DCF 45-hour training within 90 days if involved in aftercare or summer programs.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid.
Experience:
  • Preferred minimum of one year working with children in an elementary educational setting.
  • Experience with students with disabilities is a plus.
