Role Summary:
The Educational Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting the lead educator in fostering a productive learning environment for a diverse group of elementary students (K-5). This position is ideal for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute lesson plans as directed by the lead educator, including managing instructional groups.
- Assist in the creation and preparation of educational materials for classroom activities.
- Support the administration of assessments and monitor student progress.
- Collaborate with the educator to document academic achievements through observations and data collection.
- Implement and maintain effective behavior management strategies and classroom organization.
- Fulfill paraprofessional duties in the absence of the lead educator.
- Stay informed on best practices in education through professional development opportunities.
- Perform necessary caretaking and maintenance duties to ensure a clean and safe classroom environment.
- Foster positive communication and relationships with staff and parents.
- Participate in required training sessions, meetings, and events.
- Report any concerns or complaints from parents or students to administration.
- Adhere to the policies and guidelines established by UCP and relevant educational authorities.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned.

Education:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Completion of DCF 45-hour training within 90 days if involved in aftercare or summer programs.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid.
- Preferred minimum of one year working with children in an elementary educational setting.
- Experience with students with disabilities is a plus.
