Job Summary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate manual and field machining equipment to perform precision machining and large-scale cutting and drilling operations.
  • Develop processes, select tooling, and perform setups for machining operations.
  • Assist in the mobilization and demobilization of equipment for machining operations.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on basic equipment.
  • Ensure dimensional accuracy and quality workmanship in all machining operations.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and documentation for machining operations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; journeyman or 2-year technical degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in manual and/or field machining, with experience in Bridgeport knee mills and manual engine lathes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to operate manual machining equipment and measure/inspect dimensions using micrometers and other tools.
  • Ability to perform basic rigging and layout.
  • Knowledge of carbide drills, end mills, inserted cutters, and boring tooling.
  • Knowledge of feeds and speeds, machineability of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, and cutting oils.
  • Knowledge of tooling insert nomenclature and Morse tapers.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a shop environment or a customer site, both indoors and outdoors. The employee will spend a minimal amount of time outdoors in hot, cold, or inclement weather.

Other Requirements:

  • OSHA 10 certification required.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Successful completion of IPM's Overhead Crane Training and Forklift Training required.
  • Valid Forklift license required.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time, with travel locations including job sites and company facilities.
