Job Title: Project Manager - Special Projects Group

University Mechanical Contractors, Inc (UMC) is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead our Special Projects Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, estimating, selling, and managing multiple, specialized, fast-track mechanical construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take leadership role and ownership of estimates, project scoping, proposals, project safety, and project execution while meeting or exceeding department profitability goals.
  • Provide conceptual HVAC and plumbing designs for estimating purposes.
  • Develop and maintain client relations.
  • Review job estimates of direct reports and prepare project budgets.
  • Estimate and negotiate change orders.
  • Track, forecast, report labor hours and material costs.
  • Buyout major equipment and subcontracts.
  • Expedite and track deliveries of major equipment/materials.
  • Maintain working knowledge of general conditions, work scope, and specifications of project contract/subcontract.
  • Review contract drawings, detail drawings, and specifications.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a mechanical project manager.
  • Construction Management or Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering degree desired.
  • A minimum of one year's experience managing PE's.
  • Basic HVAC and plumbing engineering knowledge.
