Job Responsibilities:
- Perform skilled mechanical, plumbing, and fuel gas code inspections to verify compliance with various systems, including complex engineered commercial systems.
- Inspect and verify testing of wet and dry heating and cooling systems, ducts and piping, fuel gas piping, refrigeration systems, building ventilation systems, exhaust systems, product conveying, and hazardous exhaust systems.
- Inspect complex commercially engineered systems specific to the building and its use, interpreting code requirements to verify commercial building systems operate together.
- Read and interpret on-site approved plans, notes, specifications, material and equipment listings, and installation instructions.
- Verify equipment and fuel gas sizing is correct, installed, and tested in compliance with code requirements.
Requirements:
- ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification required.
- 10-hour OSHA safety training certification required.
- Thorough knowledge of NYC mechanical, plumbing, and fuel gas codes, rules, and ordinances; extensive knowledge of mechanical and fuel gas installation practices, systems, and materials; and intermediate knowledge of legal processes involved in the enforcement of building codes and ordinances.
