Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Sales Associate to join our Cafe team at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, operating the Point of Sale system, and maintaining a clean and organized cafe environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Greet and serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner, responding to their needs and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Point of Sale Operations: Accurately operate the Toast POS system, handling cash, credit card transactions, and making change as needed.
  • Cafe Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized cafe environment, restocking merchandise and supplies as needed, and ensuring that the cafe is presentable to customers.
  • Product Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the cafe's menu and products, including food, beverages, and snacks, and be able to answer customer questions and make recommendations.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve sales goals and provide excellent customer service.
Requirements
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience working in a fast-paced retail or food service environment, preferably with experience using a Point of Sale system.
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to work with a diverse range of customers and provide a positive experience.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace, with attention to detail and a focus on quality.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 25 pounds, and bend, stoop, and reach as needed.
Working Conditions

This is a seasonal, hourly, non-exempt position that requires the ability to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and weekends. The position also requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to multitask effectively.
