Position Overview
The role entails the development and assessment of public relations, marketing, and communication initiatives utilizing a blend of marketing analytics, innovative media technologies, and conventional strategies. Additionally, this position plays a crucial role in formulating and executing inclusive enrollment strategies aimed at attracting prospective students to the College of Business and Administration (COBA).
Key Responsibilities
• Reports directly to the Dean of COBA, overseeing market research, strategic planning, management, and evaluation of marketing, communication, and public relations activities. This involves a creative and analytical assessment of brand perception, messaging, and target demographics to maximize visibility and support among various stakeholders.
• Develop a cohesive brand framework that can be effectively communicated and implemented across all internal stakeholders.
• Execute a robust social media strategy to enhance engagement and outreach.
• Apply market research insights to ensure that communications and materials resonate with the needs and viewpoints of target audiences.
• Utilize marketing analytics to guide strategic planning and assess the effectiveness of initiatives.
• Negotiate contracts with advertising and creative service providers; evaluate and monitor their performance.
• Collaborate with deans to devise and implement strategies with thorough project management practices.
• Formulate annual and long-term plans with specific strategies, effective tactics, and measurable objectives to ensure effective stewardship of the institution's brand.
• Design and execute an operational marketing strategy to meet recruitment and enrollment objectives for the College, providing strategic leadership in student recruitment efforts.
• Manage annual budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance with university policies regarding marketing expenditures.
• Foster creative collaboration for external development initiatives, including the creation of fundraising campaign materials, public announcements, and progress reports on development campaigns. Work closely with staff to secure appropriate media coverage for donations received and produce various print and electronic materials highlighting contributions.
• Establish effective communication channels with internal teams to generate narratives and messages about activities, research achievements, and alumni news, enhancing the visibility of the College and University. Engage faculty and staff in marketing initiatives to showcase research and other accomplishments through diverse media platforms.
• Oversee the production of COBA news releases and collaborate with University Communications on press releases related to the College's and University's initiatives. Act as a vital liaison with other University departments to support overarching campaign objectives.
• Lead, manage, and motivate a team of Graduate Assistants, providing necessary coaching and development.
Required Qualifications
1. A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related discipline.*
2. A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in a university public relations, marketing, or communications environment, or in a corporate setting.*
3. Proven track record of developing and executing successful integrated marketing and communications campaigns that yield measurable outcomes.*
4. Strong understanding of market research methodologies and marketing analytics.*
5. Familiarity with budget planning and oversight processes.*
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and various social media platforms.*
7. Exceptional verbal, written, and social media communication skills.*
Note: A Master's degree in a relevant field may substitute for one (1) year (12 months) of professional experience.
