Job Overview

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Restaurant Operations Manager (AROM) is to oversee all facets of the dining establishment and bar activities, ensuring that the standards for food quality and service excellence are consistently upheld. This role involves supporting the management of a team of approximately 60 employees, which includes tasks related to recruitment, training, and performance management, as well as enhancing profitability and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities

The AROM will be accountable for:

  • Creating and managing employee schedules based on operational goals.
  • Conducting interviews, hiring, training, and guiding staff, while also addressing disciplinary matters.
  • Establishing and directing work schedules for team members.
  • Addressing employee and customer concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  • Inspiring team members to achieve the overall objectives and mission of the restaurant.
  • Distributing tasks and responsibilities among staff effectively.
  • Ordering food, beverages, and essential supplies as needed.
  • Facilitating components of the onboarding process for new hires.
  • Managing inventory of food and supplies efficiently.
  • Contributing to the management of cost of goods sold.
  • Supervising staff within the designated department.
  • Preparing to report on assigned duties during management and staff meetings.
Qualifications

A college degree is preferred, although a combination of relevant experience and education may be considered as an alternative.

  • Proficient in business software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Social Media).
  • Familiarity with POS and inventory management systems.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team of 30 or more employees.
  • At least 1 year of experience in an Assistant Manager role within a restaurant or bar setting.
  • Experience managing a high-volume bar generating over $5 million in revenue for at least 1 year.
  • Strong understanding of various restaurant operations, including food planning, procurement, sanitation, security, company policies, personnel management, record-keeping, and report preparation.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States is required.
  • Agreement to undergo a background check is necessary.

Additional Information

Please note that this position requires:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting items weighing up to 45 pounds.
  • Working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • All employees must maintain high standards of personal hygiene to prevent foodborne illnesses and ensure a clean working environment.
  • Potential exposure to hot, cold, and hazardous equipment, as well as the use of office equipment such as phones, computers, and copiers.
  • Direct reporting to the General Manager.
