A Patient Access Specialist is the initial point of interaction for Froedtert South.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage appointment scheduling and patient check-in processes.
- Oversee patient registration and insurance coverage management.
- Facilitate patient portal sign-up and provide departmental assistance.
- Handle work queue management efficiently.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Experience: 6 months to 1 year in a relevant role preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Formal education beyond high school in Business or Healthcare is preferred but not mandatory.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in computer usage and customer service.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
- Competence in using internet, email, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
- Experience in patient registration and insurance verification processes.
Core Duties:
- Execute arrival registration in compliance with established standards.
- Accurately identify and input patient insurance details.
- Manage and resolve departmental work queues.
- Perform insurance verifications and register patients for outpatient services.
- Facilitate direct admission workflows and provide support to the department.
- Utilize healthcare software proficiently in accordance with established protocols.
