Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Chief of Training and Operations to join our team at the Idaho National Laboratory. As a key member of our Fire Department, you will be responsible for managing the training division and ensuring that personnel are well-trained to execute their responsibilities effectively and safely.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the activities of the training division, providing guidance to subordinate supervisors and professionals.
  • Ensure the effective operation of training activities, making decisions that impact the team and influencing methods and techniques.
  • Execute financial planning, business planning, and organizational priorities, ensuring that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained.
  • Manage employees who perform similar tasks, including supervisors, exempt, and non-exempt staff.
  • Receive objective-based assignments and determine resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Responsible for single-function, location, and/or technical discipline.
  • Recommend changes to policies and establish procedures that affect the department or multiple disciplines.
  • Interact frequently with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group professionals, involving matters between sections and multiple units.
  • Partner with key contacts outside your area of expertise and other external stakeholders.
  • Communicate and present results and recommendations across disciplines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 9 years of experience, or 15 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • At least two years of leadership/management experience is required.
  • International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) Instructor 1 and Fire Officer 1 required.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Benefits and Compensation
  • The target pay range for this position is $123,735 - $185,631 annually.
  • You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
