Job Summary

As a Medical Receptionist at American Family Care The Woodlands, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately check patients in and out, verify insurance, collect payments, and maintain patient records and accounts. You will also be responsible for maintaining patient flow, providing positive patient relations, and responding promptly to customer needs.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the clinic for opening each day by reviewing the facility, opening all systems applications, and preparing new patient registration packets and required documents
  • Greet patients, provide patients with initial paperwork and obtain copies of insurance and identification cards
  • Register patients, update patient records, verify insurance accurately and timely, and check patients out
  • Determine, collect, and process patient payments and address collection and billing issues
  • Respond promptly to customer needs, provide excellent customer service, assist patients with follow-up appointments, and fulfill medical documentation requests
  • Balance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit cards) against system reports
  • Complete closing procedures by preparing closing documentation and submitting required reports
  • Complete cash control procedures and secure financial assets
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications

A high school graduate or equivalent is required. Previous medical clerical experience is preferred. Basic computer knowledge, such as Microsoft Office, is also required. Accuracy and detail orientation, as well as positive customer service skills, are essential for this role. A well-groomed appearance and clear and articulate phone mannerisms are also necessary.
