Asphalt Utility Material Handler Role Overview

The Asphalt Utility Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transfer of materials at the Memphis Asphalt Plant. This includes operating equipment, managing inventory, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in safety training and practice, quality, autonomous maintenance, TPM, and other plant programs.
  • Certify and operate in areas such as flatbed, tanker truck, railcar, and barge unloading and loading, as well as quality control procedures.
  • Perform administrative tasks including data entry, BOL processing, production entry, receiving, and general organization.
  • Certify to operate all applicable Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE).
  • Assist Operations with duties as necessary to meet customer expectations.
  • Meet team expectations for reliability, teamwork, and process improvement.
  • Understand and follow storm water and wastewater controls, and instructions for upset conditions.
  • Adhere to environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste and recycling disposal, and look for innovative ways to reduce environmental impact.
  • Maintain good housekeeping at workstations before, during, and at the end of each shift.
  • Perform work on the rail line according to plant written procedures, including hooking up cars, opening, closing, and taking temperature of cars, verifying cars are being emptied into the correct tanks, and communicating with teammates.


Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Some manufacturing experience is helpful.
  • Able to learn the responsibilities of this position.
