Job Summary

The City of Wildwood, FL is seeking a highly skilled Code Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Development Services department, you will be responsible for enforcing the City's Code of Ordinances and related laws, ensuring the safety and health of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce Code Compliance: Inspect and investigate potential violations of City codes, processing permit applications and communicating with applicants throughout the permitting process.
  • Field Inspections: Perform field inspections and re-inspections to determine code compliance, maintaining detailed records and developing reports on findings.
  • Notice Issuance: Prepare and issue notices of violation, notices to appear, code enforcement orders, liens, and affidavits as necessary.
  • Public Outreach: Educate the public through public workshops, business visitation, and meetings with residents and business owners, promoting code compliance and community engagement.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate efforts with other departments, including Police, Development Services, Building Official, and related agencies, to ensure effective code enforcement.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience: Two (2) years experience working with the public on regulatory enforcement, or one (1) year of college may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
  • Certification: Level I Code Enforcement Certification is required, with Full Code Enforcement Certification to be completed within two (2) years.
  • Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and work with the public tactfully and courteously.
