Job Description:
The Customer Product Account Specialist will perform merchandising and account management activities for a designated business segment of the Company. This role ensures the accurate and timely flow of information required for efficient company operations and excellent business relations. The Specialist will coordinate order activity and service requirements, including development and costing, sample coordination and approval, quote development and follow-up, order processing, and coordination of delivery requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with customers and internal stakeholders to understand account requirements and implement program and product line plans and development calendars.
- Act as liaison between design, development, sales, supply chain, and production to ensure presentation of appropriate product assortment, development of product costing within parameters, and creation of products that meet customer aesthetic, quality, and performance expectations.
- Assess incoming information and development requests to ensure complete and accurate documentation of customer requirements and validate that product specifications are within company competencies.
- Identify and resolve issues that impact customer performance expectations.
- Understand product specifications, product configuration, and associated tools, including product configurators, art templates, and collaterals.
- Validate product configuration for conformance to technical specifications, cost parameters, lead-time requirements, and overall manufacturability.
- Coordinate with designers to drive product costs that meet specific target price points, backward engineering as required.
- Work with design, development, and engineering in a coordinated effort to support development of SMU and new products, including changes in material or technique.
- Service the day-to-day activities of accounts within a business segment, including processing art requests, new product sample requests, quoting needs, and order placement.
- Ensure that customer delivery requirements are within predetermined lead times based on market segment and customer forecast and work to effect alignment.
- Implement and maintain spreadsheets and other program management tools to effectively manage and communicate program information between the Customer and the Company.
- Communicate and coordinate with manufacturing and sourcing to verify delivery, expedite product, and support the development of large volume opportunities and programs.
- Perform order management activities, including delivery, shipment, credit, billing, and quality issues. Follow up with customers regarding delivery dates. Respond to and resolve customer issues and complaints.
- Analyze account activity. Cultivate and strengthen relationships within designated accounts to achieve both Customer and Company goals.
- Travel to account locations and trade shows, programs, and events as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university with a minimum of 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently. Must possess excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues affecting customer orders. Ability to work well under pressure and meet critical deadlines. Skills in program/project management required. Previous merchandising, sales, customer service, or technical experience either in the organization itself or in a comparable position in a related industry required. Must be competent in the use of computerized systems and Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Database programs, and Outlook). Skills in Adobe Illustrator preferred. Travel is a requirement of the position.
