Transportation Project Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Project Engineer to join our team at Thompson Engineering. As a key member of our civil engineering team, you will be responsible for performing field and office assignments under the supervision of the Project Manager and the client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project data accumulation and management in support of successful completion of projects
- Field coordination and liaison between different disciplines and between office staff, job site field technicians, and the client
- Performing civil analyses, formulating plans, evaluating respective data, and preparing reports
- Applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited institution
- Five years of relevant Construction Engineering experience
- Two plus years of heavy construction management or oversight experience
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
- Strong field orientation and proven problem-solving skills
- Ability to successfully work within a team environment
- Knowledge of Civil Engineering systems, calculations, applications, construction methods, practices, and materials
- Thorough knowledge of industrial and regulatory standards and design criteria in the specialty area
- Proficient computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project scheduling
- Ability to work independently and resolve practical problems, keeping all appropriate parties aware of issues and/or risks
Physical Requirements
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Work flexible schedules and overtime as needed by the department needs
- Operate a computer and sit for long periods of time
- Lift a minimum of 40 lbs
- Work outside for extended periods in the heat and cold
- Stand, walk, and balance in irregular and uneven terrain and pavements, concrete, grass, dirt, and gravel
Estimated Salary
The estimated salary for this role is $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience.
