Job Summary:

As a Senior Surgical Technologist at the University of Texas Medical Branch, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and strong communication skills to work effectively with the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing the operating room environment, including checking supplies and equipment, and ensuring that all necessary instruments and materials are available.
  • Participate in the surgical procedure, passing instruments to the surgeon and maintaining the highest standard of sterile technique.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure that the operating room is running efficiently and that all procedures are completed safely and effectively.
  • Assist in training new employees and students, and participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a positive and respectful work environment, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in patient care.

Requirements:

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of surgical technology
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
