Job Overview
The Press Operator is responsible for the operation of web printing presses, ensuring the production of high-quality printed materials. This role involves overseeing the press crew, maintaining equipment, and executing various operational tasks as directed by management.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and manage a gravure press or multi-color offset press for diverse printing tasks, including single-color and multi-color jobs.
- Review job specifications to establish the appropriate press setup based on the run's imposition.
- Conduct all necessary make-ready tasks, including the installation of plates or cylinders, and ensure proper positioning of images.
- Implement color corrections and adjustments prior to production to meet quality standards.
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance of the press, addressing minor repairs and replacing worn components as needed.
- Adhere to periodic maintenance schedules as recommended by the manufacturer.
Work Schedule
Shifts are from 7 PM to 7 AM, following a rotating schedule of 3 days on and 4 days off every 8 weeks.
Essential Skills
- Expertise in operating web printing presses.
- Ability to maintain product quality throughout the printing process.
- Leadership skills to guide and direct the press crew effectively.
- Proficiency in setting up, adjusting, and maintaining gravure or multi-color offset presses.
- Attention to detail in reviewing job specifications and performing make-ready tasks.
- Capability to produce sample-quality products and provide accurate documentation.
- Experience in coordinating the make-ready process and maintaining a preventive maintenance program.
