Job Title: Production Engineer

Occidental is seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM) team in Houston, TX. As a key member of our asset team, you will work collaboratively with field operations and multidisciplinary technical teams to optimize oil and gas production at the well and field level.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the well repair process by evaluating well history, economics, and preparing repair plans, including lift design changes.
  • Lead the well surveillance process to ensure optimal production performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate daily with operations and well servicing teams.
  • Develop and present detailed project plans to obtain approval for projects or update management on results.
  • Select the appropriate artificial lift system by examining drawdown potential, initial and operating expense, and special problems such as sand/scale/deviation.
Requirements:
  • BS degree in Engineering (PE, ME, or ChemE) from an ABET accredited program.
  • 10+ years of production engineering experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and experience in operating/designing Gas Lift, ESP, and Beam wells, including selecting the appropriate systems and equipment for different well conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to use engineering skills to solve problems and monitor and analyze asset performance to enhance production.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Field experience in production operations or well servicing.
  • Experience in unconventional reservoir operations, Permian Basin a plus.
  • Familiarity with multiphase network modeling and optimization.
