Northrop Grumman Missions Systems is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer in RF and Microwave Technology to support our team of qualified, diverse hardware engineers engaged in Next Generation Multifunctional AESAs that cater to a wide array of Mission Systems products in Baltimore, MD.

Applicants are expected to apply robust leadership and advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in support of Hardware Development and Hardware Subsystems Integration and Testing.

This position will support our Advanced Engineering Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities:


Collaborate directly with the Hardware (Subsystem) Architect and System Architect to spearhead the integration and testing efforts of intricate technical subsystems, delivering cost-effective solutions through meticulous Integration and Test Planning, implementation, execution, and requirements verification.

Assist the Subsystem Architect in managing risks and opportunities by identifying and owning risks associated with hardware performance.

Accountable for providing integration and testing support for technical and collaborative reviews, interfacing closely with all hardware design disciplines, including mechanical, control, subcomponent & subassembly design, and manufacturing teams.

Engage with product line organizations and IRAD/CRAD technical leadership in the development of tactical product line hardware offerings leveraging essential building blocks.

Collaborate with software and digital teams concerning hardware subsystem integration and testing support. Resolve integration and testing challenges, providing solutions that are technically sound and programmatically executable. Maintain oversight of all subsystem integration, testing, and verification activities across contracts.
Basic Qualifications for a Senior Staff RF/Microwave Engineer:


Bachelor's degree in engineering or a STEM-related discipline with 17 years of experience, or 15 years with a master's degree and 9 years of experience with a Ph.D. An additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable.

Experience in Antenna or Subsystem Integration & Testing, with a proven track record in a leadership role demonstrating team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Proficient, skilled, and disciplined in hardware engineering processes. Demonstrated technical leadership abilities, decisiveness, and the capacity to make sound technical judgments with limited information. Experience in providing leadership throughout the design, production, and integration/testing of complex subsystems. U.S. Citizenship is required, along with an Active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).

Technical expertise, leadership, and experience in one or more of the following areas:
Active electronically scanned arrays (AESAs) and/or Digital AESAs, highly integrated subsystems including DREX and Antenna, hardware documentation/generation of test procedures, test reports, data analysis, and data presentation, Antenna/RF Hardware Performance Analysis, Subsystem Control, embedded real-time software and digital systems, conducting Test Readiness Reviews and/or Design Readiness Reviews, comfortable creating RF applications and tools using MATLAB, setting up and testing hardware in a lab/benchtop environment, developing test plans to support engineering development efforts, executing subsystem and system-level testing - both in engineering development and manufacturing environments, and conceptualizing operations for integration and testing activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working on Advanced Multifunction AESA Special Access Programs, demonstrated ability to formally present technical solutions to senior leadership, both internal and external, experience directly managing or leading engineering teams, advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields, and Top Secret Clearance or Active Special Program Access (SAP).

Salary Range:
$174,800 - $262,200 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
